Last Day of Eighth Grade

Makin wrapped up his school year May 21st, just in time for his milestone celebration the next day. This picture was taken in the evening after a hard-working-wrap-up-day, because he wasn't 100% sure he would get it all done!

(Lorelei has had to continue a couple of subjects into the summer so her photo will come later!)

Makin's favorite subject this year was math.

His favorite parts of school were the flexibility and that it was a "chill school year", homeschool PE (even though it was brief this year), robotics and the study hall and friend time at HOPE Prep.

May Moments

Garden Beauty

We love having these growing over our fence.

Field Day

Makin enjoyed field day with our homeschool group this year.

Adventure Club - Kayaking

We were excited to go kayaking for adventure club! It was a gorgeous day and we had an amazing time!

First time kayaking and loved it!

May Date

Treasure hunting! Golf!

Mother's Day

We had a mostly restful Sunday. So thankful to be their mom!

New Favorite Breakfast

Breakfast tacos/burritos!

Andy's HS Meet Up

Our homeschool group met up at Andy's for the last HS event of the school year.

Adventure Club - Arbor Hills

On the months when the weather is gorgeous we hope to fit in two Adventure Club meet ups, which is what happened in May! The boys led us on some trails we haven't ventured to yet and it was fabulous!

First Communion

We celebrated Makin's first communion this month. He spent some time learning about what our church believes about communion and then the families of that class took communion together that Sunday during the service.

Work From Golf

Brad found a super-fun office space he can use with a day pass.

Makin's Milestone Day

We wanted to mark the milestone of Makin's transition from middle school to high school. We made it a celebration day.

Supper choice was Red Lobster - "I'm just here for the biscuits!"

Robot Combat

Makin had been working months on his ant-weight robot and finally had a date to compete! He said he "failed miserably" but that he learned so much. The community has been super supportive and he can reach out to many of the more-experienced designers and they are happy to help/give advice/feedback. He is gearing up for his next tournament, but has to re-design, so unsure when it will be ready.

Golf - The One Where We Learned Some Courses Allow Dogs

Yep! We were surprised to learn Watson could come along, so Lorelei kept Brad company while he golfed one Sunday afternoon.

Camp Prep

She spent weeks packing and even brought some items to hang in her space.

First Swim Of The Summer

Love our pool time!

Coffee Time

Thankful for time with friends!

April Adventuring

Canyon Horse Show

We traveled back to Canyon for IEA Regionals. We enjoyed spending the day before the show visiting with Grandma and Grandpa who made the trip down to watch the show! We especially loved a chance to visit Palo Duro Canyon!

Game Time!

Enjoyed getting to visit with Amanda and Sydney!

Lorelei and a friend at the horse show.
Lorelei placed 4th out of 4 and enjoyed spending the day at the show.

Dedicated fans! It was COLD!

Ant Weight Robot

Makin has been working on and off for months on his robot in order to compete in an ant weight robotics tournament.

Adventure Friday/Ennis Bluebonnets

We had absolutely gorgeous weather for our Adventure Friday. First the boys golfed in Waxahachie (it was the nearest course to Ennis) and the girls (and Watson) had a great time exploring the downtown area. This town was just our style! After picking up the boys (side note, BIG moment, Makin beat his dad for the first time!) we snuck in a couple of flea market/antique stores with the boys per their request before heading to Ennis. First we found the Belgian horses for Lorelei before heading to the Bluebonnet Festival for a bit. Then we headed to the bluebonnet field around the golden hour for my beloved pics. (See previous post!)

Old train station turned into a coffee shop! Brilliant!

Couldn't resist this gas station-turned-bakery!
Watson enjoyed his first pup cup!

Hit the trail for a bit.

Minecraft Movie

Makin has been looking forward to this for months and he and Brad headed out with friends to see the new movie.

ManeGait

Lorelei continues to volunteer at ManeGait and absolutely loves it.

I don't get much of a chance to take pics while she is there but snapped this one in the parking lot with a fellow volunteer she enjoys working with.

Adventure Club

We had our first Adventure Club hike and it was absolutely beautiful! Cedar Ridge Nature Preserve is definitely the best hike I've enjoyed in this area. The boys led the way and we even had three dogs in the group. I'm thinking this might likely become our April usual.

Bluebonnets!

The view!

Thankful for these friends!

Nerf Battle

Our homeschool group had a Nerf Battle and Makin had a great time.

Puppy Treat Bake Sale

Lorelei decided to try her hand at selling home-made dog treats. She didn't have much profit, but we always love her enthusiasm!

Dennis and Raechel Visit

We were so excited to spend almost 24 hours with long-time friends Dennis and Raechel while they were in the area. We enjoyed supper on Friday night and some patio time visiting. We tried to sleep in a bit before heading out to Popstroke for a double date! The kids enjoyed the visit as well and Makin got a few robot tips from Dennis during their chats.

A New Do

After months of "No I do not want a haircut, I want to keep it long," Lorelei decided she wanted to get it cut. In true spontaneous style she decided she wanted it cut Sunday morning and that she would love to go that same day. She is loving that it is easier to fix!

April Date

Coffee and Conversation Cards at the lake before work!

Sweet Baby Time

I get to watch this sweet boy while his mom teaches Lorelei and a few other students Spanish I. He brings me joy every week! This visit he was reaching for Lorelei after class so we couldn't resist a pic!

Watson

After multiple grooming failures ourselves we decided to pay the professionals...it's shorter than we thought it would be, but at least this will help us last longer until the next cut?
I keep asking who's dog that is because he looks so different!
