OKC Run Weekend

Both of my siblings have been participating in one of Oklahoma's Memorial races for years now. This year we took the opportunity to meet up over that weekend to cheer on both of them during their runs!

Expo - checking out the race mapping

Waiting for the family pic with Uncle A.J.

Family Pic!

Saturday 5K for Heather - her cheer squad needed coffee/milk/hot chocolate. ;)

We decided to start documenting the height difference...
will Makin catch up to Uncle A.J.? :)

We stayed downtown so we would be close to the race - enjoyed this view!

Heather ran the half marathon and had her best time yet!

The kids enjoyed making signs with Nana during her visit to our place in March.
This sign was the biggest hit and Makin had his work cut out for him cheering on the runners.
So many runners loved it, said they needed it, and even thanked him!

A.J. ran his first (and possibly last) full marathon!

Great job Heather and A.J.!
We are proud of you!

We also enjoyed several meals and some games at Heather's place - but no pics!
Thanks for having us Heather!

We loved a chance to catch up with the Romeos at their house
followed by supper at The Chicken Shack. We sure miss living near these friends!

Pops - a fun Route 66 stop.

We also had a yummy breakfast with Heather and A.J. Monday morning before heading back home.

April Adventures

RC Plane

We had a gorgeous low-wind day and he loved a chance to fly his rc plane!

Dog-Sitting

Lorelei enjoyed dog-sitting again this month! We are so thankful for the friends who support her goals of saving and getting more training experiences!

Solar Eclipse

WOW! What an amazing opportunity we are going to treasure forever! We were in the path of totality and took a few hours out of our day to head to the lake to get this special experience!

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands." - Psalm 19:1

Game Time

We are working to get better about having family game time once a week. Had a great time playing Beet The Parents one afternoon.

Masters Sunday Afternoon

We enjoyed taking in the Masters. Had to include this sibling-selfie. :)

Nerf War

Anything Nerf is a highlight of the week for Makin! So thankful a mom planned a group Nerf War at a nearby park!

Wild Horses

One of Lorelei's passions is raising awareness for various causes. One she has been very invested in is Wild Horse round-ups. She decided to put a message about them on our driveway.

Movies

We typically do not have many movies we feel are worth the price to see in the theater, but the last month or so has included several gems we just had to see. I went to Someone Like You with friends, and as a family we went to see The Long Game and Unsung Hero. So excited to see some family-friendly quality films coming out!

Monthly Date

A new coffee shop with a view and played a few rounds of Bananagrams. :)

Easter

We enjoyed Easter Sunday with just the four of us. :) The kids found their baskets, we attended church, had yummy brisket (which trumps ham for us, but I did make ham for Makin, bc he doesn't like brisket) and carrot cake cookies. We also played some new games. :)

Happy Easter!

March Moments

Celebrating Half Birthdays

Always love reasons to celebrate! Here's to 15.5 and 13.5!

Pizza Sundays

Pizza + Movie Night = Restful Sundays!

RC boat fun!
Lake Time

We had a gorgeous day and open afternoon so we headed to the lake for a bit! We had our first sand creation competition and plan to add that to our future lake visits! Meet Barbara Manatee and Robert the Crab!

Battlefield Nerf

Our homeschool group went to an awesome Battlefield Nerf Arena! Two hours of Nerf for Makin! So much fun!

Planting Season

We look forward to this each spring! We did a combo of seedlings and seeds and are looking forward to some gardening adventures. Love the extra beauty in the backyard to enjoy.

Nana's Spring Visit

We were excited for Nana to come over spring break again this year!

Tulip Picking

Tornado Warning

Movie: Arthur The King

Game Time!

Chocolate Time!

St. Patrick's Day - celebrating with Shamrock Shakes!

And Irish Stew!

Day-long Date

Nana offered to keep the kiddos so we enjoyed a day-long date! We enjoyed breakfast and coffee at one of our favorite coffee shops, fleamarket shopping and a movie.

Mango

Lorelei's fish passed away a month or two ago and she decided she would rather have a parakeet for a pet so that Frosty could have a friend...enter Mango! Lorelei said it is best to first quarantine Mango and then gradually introduce the birds, but eventually, we will have them both in the larger cage.

Celtic Festival

We ventured about an hour north up to a Celtic Festival. We enjoyed the gorgeous day and all things Celtic - music, an Irish Wolfhound parade, watching The Highland Games (people competing in contests of strength throwing many unique items), Celtic dance competitions, a sheep herding demonstration, and a bagpipes competition.

Children's Entrepreneurial Market

The kids decided to purchase a booth at a local Children's Entrepreneurial Market and worked hard to prepare for the event. While they didn't make as much as they did back in December, I think they both enjoyed it overall. Now they have items already ready to go for their next sale. :)

Find-The-Chic

Nana heard about a game on the radio and thought we would enjoy it. She left the chic and a reward so that we could play it. Brad or I would hide the chic somewhere around the house for a couple of weeks and we kept a tally of who found it. Whoever had the most tallies by Easter won the prize. Added Bonus: improved looking skills! :) Lorelei won! (And now we have another tradition to continue bc they really enjoyed it!)

Dog-Sitting

Lorelei enjoyed dog-sitting again this month.

She did more postitive reinforcement training, including working on their table manners. ;)
