May Moments

Short Film Shoot

Lorelei and her friends began writing a script for a short film in January (most written by the O sisters, but they all pitched in here and there) and were ready to shoot in April and early May. They had an absolutely amazing time. It was so fun to hear them get excited about each take and cheer each other on. This part of the film was shot at a park, so they had many sweet comments from passerby who thought it was delightful they were doing something like this.

Yes, Watson was in his first short film and cooperated fabulously!

Spikeball

Enjoying Makin's new game before their last Personal Finance class.

Field Day

Frisco HIS has an annual field day and Makin had a great time, despite the rain! He also went to a second field day put on by Bowman Sports the following week.

Popstroke

These boys love it when they get a side of ice cream with putt putt.

And Scheels games.

ManeGait

Lorelei continues to love volunteering at ManeGait.

Father Daughter Date

Brad took Lorelei to a friend's graduation.

Mother's Day

I got home from our girls weekend and was able to enjoy time with these guys and pick our movie, per our Sunday tradition.

Adventure Club - Heritage Homestead

While our family has been to Heritage Homestead previous years, our Adventure Club family had not, so we planned a day in Waco to enjoy with our friends. Because none of boys were able to make this trip, Makin opted to stay home.

Amazing to see the handmade items and how they were made.

My favorite - the mill. This time we got a full-on history talk to go with it.

Almost time to go to lunch.

A chocolate shop that is also a coffee shop?
Yes please.

The cheese cave.
Thankful for such a special day with sweet friends.

Surprise Day

You may remember that a few years ago Lorelei asked for more surprises. (I'm a planner who does not understand these things, but I wanted to bring her joy, so here we are.) This year I decided to have Surprise Day in May. I saw the idea of a Chose-Your-Adventure and this sounded like the ultimate surprise day. Even I would be surprised throughout the day! The girls had an absolute blast.

Basically the day had various elements to it, but there were approximately three choices for each section of the day, so we didn't know where we were going until they pulled the card. It was so fun.

Do you see the turtles on the lily pads?

Teddy Bear Park

French Bistro Lunch

Pink Chapel Market

Somehow this is the only picture I got with the cards to give you an idea.
Each card draw two (ish) girls got to choose which card they picked,
without knowing what it said of course. Then that determined where we went next.
(Or in this case, which supper we were having!)
I had aspirations of a video from the day, but I'm not sure if that will happen or not. Maybe someday.

This element was getting to choose items that would go into the
kitchen sink cookies they would make at home.
Each girl got assigned a certain category of cookie items and then they would go to that section and put the items behind their back to choose which one to get.

Putting their items into their cookies.
Before this we choose the movie and supper.
The movie was OG Parent Trap.

The boys crashing the party.
Did you say cookies? Yes please.

Such a great day.

Six Flags

Lorelei was invited to celebrate Krystal's graduation at Six Flags. She had a fabulous day with friends.

Sunday Drive

We saw this on the way to church on Sunday. Such a fun memory for a family who has loved years of watching Back To The Future together.

Adventure Club - Eisenhower State Park

I was so excited to head to Eisenhower State Park as it had been on my list for a while. Then you add kayaking to the day and its even better! We had an amazing day.

Choose a group of adventurers who love you even if you go the wrong way on a trail through lots of mud!

Yes its blurry. So bummed. Proof we did take a group picture.
Unfortunately I couldn't tell it was blurry when I took it.

Somehow the only pic of Makin on his own and he looks photo shopped.
 Mom pic fail.

Seeing all of these sweet people adventuring together is a dream come true.

The ole stick-your-foot-in-the-water-to-cool-off trick.

Love them.

A few minutes in the water before the storm came through.

The boys got to the cave.
We didn't get that far before the storm but I'm glad they did.

After finding the cave.

After a huge rain we had to chase the rainbow on the way home.

Robot Progress

Still working on his robot. Excited about his new soldering iron.

May Date

Although most dates aren't at home, we decided it needed to be coffee on the patio this month. Love these times set aside for the two of us. Coffee and conversations on the patio are always special time.

Road Trip To Camp

Lorelei had plans to work at camp as a junior counselor this summer, so Mom and I drove her there and found some fun things to do along the way.

She planned almost all of these, so it was fun to see her thrive doing that planning.

A coffee shop with atmosphere is always a win.

Bible verses too!

Thrift Shopping

The Tomato Place
This was such a hole-in-the-wall place, but Lorelei really wanted to try it.
She actually didn't like the fried green tomatoes, which was a bummer.
I did get a smoothie and it was yummy.

Special hotel we found.
This was a building separate from our rooms,
but it was fun to walk through and see as it was Victorian style mansion (which means L loved it.)

The Georgia Aquarium is very unique and Lorelei really wanted to prioritize this
as it is the largest aquarium in the northern hemisphere.
I wasn't sure how she would feel about aquariums that are not only rescue-based,
but she said they do have many rescues here.
She listened to roughly 18 hours of the GA Aquarium podcast before going.
First time seeing a beluga whale.

This tank is one of the largest single aquatic exhibits in the world.
According to google...
It holds 6.3 million gallons of water.
The tank is up to 30 feet deep and features a massive 23-foot-tall, 61-foot-wide acrylic viewing window.

Make sure to take note of the whale shark in the background.

Getting to watch them feed the penguins was great.

Dolphin Show

Limited food but she thought this looked good.

Sea Lion Show

Then we headed to drop her off at camp.
Can you tell she is thinking...ok enough pictures now you can go mom...
