Summer Fun - Garage Sale-ing, Keepin' Cool, Down Time, Treats, Movies, Oregon Trail, Celebrating 40, Watermelon Day, Choc Chip Cookie Day

Garage Sale-ing

We haven't done much garage sale-ing in years but we decided to take it up for some of our summer family fun on a few Saturday mornings.

Supporting a lemonade stand. :)

Keepin' Cool In The Pool

Surviving the summer in Texas means you are either in the house with the ac or in the pool! July meant most every day was over 100 degrees...no need to even check the weather! (It's kinda better if you just don't see it.)

Lorelei had her own version of swim lessons with Mia, a little sister of a friend.
She loved preparing to teach her and help her be brave!

Down Time

When we aren't swimming it's mostly a quiet house while the kids are reading, listening to audiobooks, crocheting, or building Legos, usually a mix.

This summer Makin discovered he could look up some Lego directions online
and has been finding lots of sets to create using Legos we found at a garage sale years ago.

Mad Libs.

These boys love a good puzzle!

Summer Treats

Ice Cream Sandwich shop we just had to give a try! Yummy!

Lexi brought over her shaved ice machine!

Couldn't resist a hula snack!

Summer Movies

We love when they have special summer movies for $1.50! This year we chose to go to Peter Rabbit 2!

Kid's first time to see this classic!

Oregon Trail Prep

Brad and I are from what some refer to as "The Oregon Trail Generation" so it's no surprise I got all excited as we discovered we could fit in an Oregon Trail field trip into our upcoming Nebraska visit. Naturally, we prepared the kids in the best way possible...by playing THE original Oregon Trail game. They had TONS of fun and the nostalgia was awesome. Don't worry, we also found some great Oregon Trail books available from the library to go along with our field trip!

Celebrating 40

Brad and I enjoyed a night out to celebrate Amanda's 40th Birthday! We celebrated with yummy food and great music!

Watermelon Day

Actually celebrated on National Watermelon  Day this year!

National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day

National fill-in-the-blank days seem to be multiplying like rabbits, but when a special nearby cookie shop offers free chocolate chip cookies, you celebrate!

July 4th

Patriotic Sunday Best
(July 3rd)

It was a relatively low-key 4th this year in the panhandle as the area had a burn ban which meant no fireworks! We enjoyed the day visiting with Uncle A.J. (who also played various activities with the kids) as well as the evening with the Knops (Long time friends of my parents...). As always, we had yummy festive food!

Star Fruit

Happy 4th!

Summer Fun - Weekend at Aunt Heather's, Lorelei's Oklahoma Visit, Makin Mix, Oklahoma Visit

Weekend at Aunt Heather's

We headed to Heather's place for the weekend for some fun as well as a chance to meet Nana so that Lorelei could have her summer visit. We enjoyed getting to catch up over some yummy food, playing games, and a visit to the zoo.

Saturday Morning Donuts

Lego Giraffe

Sea Lion Show

Sooo hot!

Elephant Ear plant across from the elephants.

Loved the elephant show and especially seeing the baby!

His face says it all...how we mostly felt about our cards playing Apples to Apples.

Sunday Brunch
Biggest. Pancake. Ever.

Found some books at a thrift store.

Loving Heather's Hammock

Lorelei's Oklahoma Visit

Lorelei was excited for a longer visit this summer (2 whole weeks!) and sure seemed to enjoy all the 1-1 time and "just being around the farm" as she likes to say. I loved getting picture updates of their fun!

Walk around the lake and visit with Uncle A.J.

Loving the neighbor's horses.

Making no-bake cookies.

Pool time with panhandle friends.

Afternoon driving combine and grain truck with Papa.

Kitty time with friends from church.

Golf cart ride to get the mail with friend from church.

Makin Mix

Meanwhile Makin enjoyed his own 1-1 here at home. We stuck to the same type of schedule of activities we usually have going on in the summer.

Father's Day: Pizza and Golf
(happy boys!)

Mother/Son Coffee Date

Lego Time

Wave Riding

Clock Craft

Pool time with a friend.

Early morning at a park before flying his drone.

Oklahoma Visit

Makin and I headed to the panhandle over the weekend. (Brad ended up not feeling well so we decided it was best for him to stay home.) Makin had fun digging into Uncle A.J.'s old Legos. The kids captured some grasshoppers and enjoyed the city pool.
