Summer Fun - Nana Visit, Pool Time, Golf Camp, Lake Time, JC Pool

Nana Visit
Although we didn't get to do as many things as we might usually plan, we enjoyed having Nana for a summer visit! (She also came along three mornings at golf camp, more on that later.)

Bananagrams!

HUGE cup of coffee after church. :)

Couldn't miss adding this. On the drive home from lunch, we showed Nana these awesome little robots that deliver food within a certain area. We aren't close enough to order from one, but still so fun to see!

Beach and Animals Summer Puzzle!

Indoor Bocce Ball

Pool Time
Our pool finally opened with many restrictions (only afternoons and only two hours which you book ahead of time) and paperwork needed, but we are excited for some swim time!

Float Race!

When Mom wants "Just one good pic..." ;)

Golf Camp
The kids attended golf camp again this year and really enjoyed it despite the heat!

The coach saw lots of improvement in Lorelei, Brad and I see her more excited to play in the future, and she even won the "playoff" on the last day! (You can imagine how thrilled Makin was. ;) )

So glad Charlie likes golf too!

Lake Time
We headed back to the lake with friends!

Jack Carter Pool
We were excited to head back to this summer favorite!

Summer Fun - Getting Creative, Lake Time, Visit From A.J., Water Day

Getting Creative
Since we are what I'm calling semi-quarantine "safely stuck" at home much more than a typical summer we have had to come up with some new ideas to keep busy!

bowling

Coloring while listening to an audiobook.
This one got them excited to try a new series which thankfully was at the library!

Brad took Makin to a fishing spot one Saturday morning.

I'm not a huge puzzle fan, but Lorelei insisted we try one.
She proceeded to help add about two pieces, but Makin and Brad love it!
If I can handle it I think Brad would love to have one in progress all the time! :)

Lake Time
So thankful for time with friends in the sand and sun!

Visit From A.J.
A.J. flew out of our area for a trip, so we enjoyed seeing him for a short visit.

Enjoying a new outdoor game.

A trip to Arbor Hills!

Makin loved having someone who would venture up and downstream with him!

Lunch outside too!
Thanks for the visit A.J.!

Water Day
We enjoyed a day with friends with a waterslide/pool/country combo! (No pictures but the boys really loved fishing in a small pond nearby as well! The girls also just "hung out and talked" in the shade near the pond. Who are these big kids!?)

July 4th

We had to change some plans for our fourth after the governor issued a new mandate that masks are now required basically everywhere with a few exceptions (the Texas heat is not an exception...). This mandate also stated you could not gather in groups of 10 or more. SO, we had a COVID-style fourth, which we deemed worthy of a Liberty's Kids marathon. This gave us all a great revolutionary history review while making the day very low-key (and let Brad and I mope in what I'm calling a second quarantine).

We enjoyed the usual favorite 4th foods as well. We were pleasantly surprised we could see one set (they had two this year to help with crowd control) of the city's fireworks from our front yard and then headed to the backyard for sparklers and snappers.

Brad had the patience for star-shaped pancakes. :)

Patriotic Rey style with an added twist of the braid. ;)

Happy 4th!

Summer Fun - Fathers Day, Lake, Art, Fabulous Friday, Top Golf, Read Alouds, Art Class

Father's Day
Brad had a relaxing day celebrating (loved our seats out for lunch despite the rainy day!) and we are so thankful for him!

Lake
We spent another lake morning with friends!

Art
We really haven't fit in a lot of time for art the last few years, but now that we are in semi-quarantine it seems like a good way to fill some of the time at home. I love having summery new pieces to hang up!

Fabulous Friday
We headed up to a different lake with the Schafer girls one Friday. We loved that it was a lot less crowded!

Then we enjoyed a night out to eat together with the dads/hubbies joining us. We happened upon a competition at a local wave park that was so fun to watch.

Couldn't have asked for better seats!

Top Golf
It was lightening on Father's Day so we decided to fit in some family fun the following Sunday after church.

Read Alouds
We almost always have a read-aloud we are working through. We reread Mr. Poppers Penguins and Lorelei even colored a penguin while we read. :)

Art Class
Through Lorelei's Polynesian Movement class I met a mom who offers art classes for all ages. I was so excited to have her come and do a class for the girls. They learned so much as she taught them different techniques and such as they were working on their paintings.
