November Snapshots

Lorelei spontaneously decided to get her haircut and donate it.

Gorgeous fall park afternoon with friends.

Brad and Jeff celebrated one year working together!

It is so much harder to get our outside time so I sure do love it when its a priority.
This trip involved some fishing troubles and a tangled fishing line but still glad we went.

Decided to throw our spaghetti in a bowl and enjoy it by the firepit!

Makin has enjoyed time with an old classmate/soccer teammate as both their sisters take horseback at the same time.

The Stahl Family Cleaning Plan Commenced

Frosty got a playground. Because what parakeet shouldn't?

We celebrated my birthday with lots of cards, Starbucks, Christmas movies and supper ordered in.

Thanksgiving

We headed to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving this year. We were incentivized by rising Covid cases to only stop once, so we made record time on the drive which was nice!

Pies were ready when we arrived
but we made a special diet-friendly apple crisp for Brad!

Virtual Turkey Trot!
(the pie piece is to mark where 1 1/2 miles was for some of us who were going slower
so we knew when to turn around!)

The kids always love their time with Lou!

Adorable leaf wine charms!

He says the real fire is wayyyy better than ours at home.

A team effort got this puzzle done in record time.

Apples to Apples!

My pie sampler!

Mom treated us to birthday pedicures.

We made a dent in her Christmas decorating, but didn't work too hard because SHE'S RETIRED! ;)

We had an early Christmas celebrating.
The kids are shaking their gifts.

Next puzzle!

Christmas records.

Nana told them their gift was the same, so they decided to open then back-to-back.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Fall Extracurriculars

Ok, SO, as much as I LOVE having absolutely no evening obligations (my quarantine bliss)...the kids love allllll the activities. We are back to juggling way too many activities this fall.

Golf

Both kids have been taking group golf lessons once a week with Coach Christie, who coached them for summer golf camp. Makin has loved having Charlie there too and Lorelei and Savannah enjoy time together the nights the boys hit range balls together. Its so amazing the golf ranch is half-way for both of us so the kids can do this together!

Polynesian

Lorelei continues to LOVE Polynesian movement. She isn't doing Junior Company this year, which turned out to be a total God-thing because the regular class is already late for my taste! The JC would be after that! We are so thankful she is able to learn from Ms.Celistine! Such a blessing!

Horseback

Lorelei is back in the saddle and couldn't be happier. We have horseback every-other-week and she is thrilled for all the horse time, and wishes it was every day!

Flag Football

Makin was adamant he wanted to play flag football this fall. After agreeing flag football didn't lead to real football, I was in with the plan. Then I even had another prayer answered...a friend told me their kids were playing so we signed up for the same team, and so did another friend...then another God-thing...no coach, ok a friend's husband stepped up to coach -  and he is awesome! Couldn't have asked for a better flag football season in my book! The kids on this team had so much heart, and it was so great to watch!

These two loved getting to play sports together this season!

Many of the days were HOT.
Who knew the season would warrant umbrellas?!

Our boys sure had a great fan club!

OM (DI program equivalent)

This activity has started very late this year so until the end of Oct we didn't have to juggle all of these at once, which was good in some ways but it'll be hard getting where we need to be in OM. We have chosen to do Odyssey of the Mind this year. This is what the program was called when Brad did it as a student. Then at some point, some people disagreed and split and then one of those groups started DI. they are overall almost identical programs. The reason we changed programs this year is that DI's problems are very virtually focused. We didn't want our kids getting extra screen time editing videos etc which is what it seemed they would expect the students to do. We are a little disappointed in some of the aspects of OM (who originally said they were trying very hard not to have all the tournaments virtual, but that isn't working out) but we plan to stick with it. The students will get what we love from doing this program and next year we can reevaluate again. Because of Covid, we will not be having the program at the school, so this year the teams meet at our house.

Brad and Emily are coaching Makin's team and Brittany and I are coaching Lorelei's team. They have been doing some amazing brainstorming and I can't wait to see how it all turns out! More to come!
