Makin at 10 1/2

You are just plugging away enjoying age ten and all that goes with it. You like to be funny, fun and keep moving. You are great at playing with kids both older and younger than you.

You like the flexibility of being home full time, but really soak up friend time when it happens and have been thankful to fit that in with OM and sports so that you see friends weekly.

You have had to push yourself a lot with OM structure building. You have put in lots of hours with low pay-off, but we know good will come from all of it. We are proud of your tenacity.

(Makin and Charlie were in his room and Brad asked why they had their shirts off.) "Girl repellent." (The girls get weirded out that the boys have their shirts off...)

Makin: Yeah, you could say that. You could say angry, frustrated and in need of a Sister Bopper.

Heather: She has lots of energy.

Makin: Jaw energy. And tongue energy. (About his sister talking a lot.)

Lorelei at 12 1/2

You are getting SO close to being a teenager and cannot wait! We definitly notice those tween tendencies with you coming out with the giggles and the storytelling.

We hear the word adorable a lot. This is mostly animal references. It is also usually in a high-pitched tone of voice.

You are really taking off having art class all year and I love seeing you grow with your art.

Quotable Moments:

Brad: It must be a business, they have lots of parking spaces.

Lor: Or maybe they just have lots of parties.

(Kids talking like Fred and George from HP, talking talking turns saying every-other word, which she finds hilarious..) "Lets do this for the rest of our lives."

"We should leave early since the whole family is going so it takes longer to get everyone in the car."

(Planning Save Winter Day just after learning how to make earrings so she would sell them there...) "And we could have an ear piercing person come so people could get their ears pierced!"

Spring Break

We always love time off from school! I am getting a bit antsy that we haven't been able to do much or go anywhere so I decided to do one fun thing per day to help spring break seem more fun.

The kids listened to audio books while Makin worked on structures for OM and Lorelei colored.

Last year we started a new tradition of a trip to get plants over spring break!
Lorelei found this cutie for her room. (It's an owl pot, probably hard to see.)

Nana came overlapping a bit of spring break and then school and we had a fun visit.

We celebrated St. Patrick's day with our beloved Shamrock Shakes!

For now they were "sunning" but they sure can't wait to be swimming!
