January Happenings

Starting Off The New Year

Great way to start off the year - family lake visit! It was warm in the morning and then a cold front hit that evening. After we got back we watched the recorded Rose Bowl parade.

Panera Work Day

I have learned it's best to head out the first day back to school after Christmas break. This year I had to buy more food than expected to keep this growing boy fed. (After all, who doesn't want pizza for second breakfast???) We also had to play some games for "recess." Later we headed to Trader Joes - sure a good way to start off and helps both of us as we get back to work mode.

7th Grade Get-Together

I'm hoping to organize a few more get-together's with Lorelei's class this semester. We had a warm Friday in the forecast so we headed to a rooftop location Brad discovered. They played some games for a couple of hours before we headed downstairs to the coffee shop and got gorgeous coffee and had some great conversations!

Sunday Fun-Day

I love when we make sure Sunday is restful. We try this most weekends but seems this time of year it is often especially hard to recharge and balance it all. This Sunday was hot chocolate, a game, and Karate Kid for movie night!

Lego Time

Makin requested a chance to visit a Lego store close to home. He and Brad headed there after work one day and dug for Legos to fill-the-bag until closing time.

Pen Pals

Lorelei loves writing letters to friends. She has one that has been a pretty consistent pen pal and they have fun decorating their pages with their love of Harry Potter.

Library Run

Never enough books for this family. :)

Friend Time

Often once a week the kids get friend-fun time after OM. They sure love it. As you may have guessed, it often might involve Nerf gun fun. ;)

Winter Nails

Lorelei got some special nail gel stickers for Christmas and they make me smile! (After I forget the pain of putting them on...;))

Coffee Shop Date

We enjoyed another night out playing Bananagrams while Lorelei was at cotillion.

OM Work Days

Odyssey of the Mind keeps us hopping during the winter months as we prepare for competition at the end of February. It is hard to fit much else in, so good thing they are having fun while working!

Constructing Rolling Bottoms For Backdrop

Costumes!

The rolled hundreds of thing papers to make this piece of art.

He took on the task of making vehicles.
There have to be four tasks completed and he opted for four vehicles,
two of which will be judged on their propulsion systems.

Still rollin' and gluin'!

He built most of a mini-clock and then passed it off
to a teammate to make it more artistic.
