Harry Potter Party

The kiddos and I typically start contemplating their next birthday party...oh around a month or two after their birthday... So this one has been in the works for a while. While I tried to talk them into something different because of Covid, they were really in love with this idea. It was another turn for a joint party so that they could have a waterslide rental and since they both LOVE Harry Potter it was the obvious choice! I hope all our years of crazy birthday fun is something they love about their childhood!

Party Prep

Our family loves to go all-out for birthdays! This year was definitely one of those big party years.

So much fun with the invites this year!
Brad drew each owl.
(You get this way more if you have seen/read HP, but an owl brings the letter invite to Hogwarts!)

Delivery time!

We would leave the owl and then pull away.
Then I would text each mom asking them to have their child go check the front door.

The following weekend it was time to make our own version of Quidditch as well as prepare Snitch take-home chocolates. I'll also note here we hung candles days before and had to find just the right way to get them to stay up. We had falling candles for days until Brad (of course) helped find a way to get them to stay up!

Although I worked all day the day before, it was late before I could begin the cupcakes. I was SO thankful Mom and Heather arrived and rocked the cupcake decorating. I would've probably been up till 2 AM if I were on my own. Not to mention way less fun!

The Set Up

I loved that I could count on Heather to capture all the decorations! This year I had the most decor and the most HELP. Friends pitched in like crazy for this and it made me so happy and grateful.

Suitcases compliments of Mom and Adrina!
The birdcage also Adrina!

Potion bottles and books all compliments of Christi!
(Who made them for a previous HP event.)

I'm thankful for free printables! The kids had to have Moaning Myrtle in the bathroom!

This guy rocked making the Butterbeer! So yum!

Potions lab outside.

Can't forget the Castle waterslide bounce house!
One of our favorite parts of our invitation said "Dress Code: Water repellant robes - Muggle swimwear is an acceptable substitute."

Party Time!!!

This rule-following mama had a hard time ignoring the mandate of only gathering in groups of ten or less...so we had four parties. Yes, you read that right, four parties. Shifts if you will. Our first shift began at 8:30 am and our last shift ended at 6 pm. We gave ourselves 30 minutes between each party to clean up. While this sounds somewhat overwhelming, it also made each party quite manageable! It wasn't ideal because I missed having any parents staying and we had to be limited to how many friends to invite, but considering the world right now, I was pretty happy with how it worked out.

The Birthday Honorees

Quick Game Between Parties

Butterbeer Yumminess!

The Rogers sent Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans (flavors like vomit, dirt, and earwax)
and some kids enjoyed (ish) a chance to try them!

Slythern Snakes were a favorite snack choice.
(Gummie worms)

Checked off all the party activities..lets move on to Legos!

(I missed the group shot at this third party...so bummed!!!)

Sophia was the bravest and tried the most beans!

We were worn out and enjoyed unwinding, opening gifts and ordering pizza after the crazy day!

Thanks to Mom and Heather for coming to help us celebrate!
