Kicking Off The School Year - 6th and 4th

So accurate for this school year!
This was such a wacky start of a school year. It had us reeling. We decided to choose virtual schooling (because they could not imagine school in a mask all day being comfortable) with no idea what that would actually look like. We found out it meant they would literally be watching a screen the entire day 2 and 3 days a week seeing a live classroom. Lorelei told me she could feel her brain rotting.

A week and a half later Lorelei tried school with a shield and decided she could do that. Makin tried school the following day (In 6th they start going in-person Mondays, so that was the first day Lorelei tried, whereas Makin tried the Tuesday) and decided he could NOT do school in a mask or a shield. SO this school year is the usual University Model for Lorelei (with a lot of computer changes for this Mama which has been rough, partially due being in upper school and mostly due to being ready to pivot in case they have to come home due to COVID) and Makin being "virtually enrolled with an in-person teacher" which really means we are sticking with the books etc he would do with the school, but not going to be virtually in class because we do not feel we need that screen time when we can execute it ourselves at home. Phew. It sounds so simple now that all the kinks have been worked out. ;)

How we feel about zoom orientation all day...

First day at home...in pjs? ;)

First Day Ice Cream Tradition!
