Halloween 2020

This year's Halloween was slightly different, but most of our traditions were the same. Although I haven't been overly germ weary after our quarantine time other than spraying our hands more often, the idea of reaching into buckets of candy after hundreds of other kids just seemed to be pushing it to me. The kids were honestly very good sports about it. I think it helped that they had counted on being Harry and Hermione and getting their robes at Universal, which obviously did not work out, and we weren't enthused about figuring out different costumes this year for some reason.

Because of busy schedules and Halloween being on a Saturday, we had a day full of Halloween fun.

We had glow chalk from a previous year and she loved drawing lots of jack-o-lanterns to decorate.
She learned how to draw pumpkins in art class!

Thankful Trader Joes has all the holiday fun!
Dunking Jack-O-Lantern Joe Joes!

One of my favorites! Pumpkin Carving!

One idea we read about was driving around looking at decorations.
Lorelei loved this idea of course!

Our Covid-Friendly Candy Cannon!
(I mean really did you expect anything less from these guys!?)

10 Year Old Livin' The Dream

Another favorite is roasted pumpkin seeds.
I had my usual barefoot-in-the-kitchen Halloween status.

Lexi hung our with Lorelei and they tried to scare people.

In case you were worried about their lack of sugar, we ended the night with s'mores.
They got to choose their candy to put in the s'more too!

Happy Halloween!

Fall Fun

Coffee Date

One thing I have been enjoying about having Makin schooling at home is getting some time. One morning we squeezed in a coffee date and a few games of corn hole before groceries and school.

Pumpkin Patch Day

We fit in visiting two pumpkin patches in one day! That is my kinda day. :) The GCA families went to one pumpkin patch and Brad and I had already penciled in a Friday to go to a different pumpkin patch as a family after work, so we just decided to keep it and do two in one day!

Pumpkin Patch #2

Corn Maze!

Roasted Corn! Yum!

Had to capture this for the year...

Pumpkin Party

We loved having fun with friends.

Yummy Snacks!
PiƱata Time!

Lots of Games!
Pumpkin Painting Too!

Glow paint looked great!

Our Own Fun

We don't fit in a lot of personal time, but once a month I usually have wine night and Brad loves a chance to golf with his cousin Tim!

Husker Season (Finally!)

We were so excited for the Husker football season to get started! Go Big Red!

School Fun Run

Our school had their usual fundraiser this year, but of course, it was Covid-friendly! Instead of gathering in a large group, we had passports to stamp after going to various locations throughout the area. It seemed like a great solution for this year and overall it was fun.

Here are just a few...we went for Samurai level which meant 16 stamps!

Dude Perfect Office
Pose in front of a mural.

You can't see it, but there is a statue behind all the kiddos,
which is what we needed to find.
It was fun to run into some families doing the challenge!

Sculpture Garden

There was an entire food category!
We ended the day with Chic Fil A!

Bits and Pieces

We all love read-aloud time.
Right now we are loving The Boxcar Children series.
This break gave us some extra time to read!
Parent-Teacher Conference Day

Thanks to parent-teacher conferences we were able to fit in a bit of extra fun after my conference (zoom making it faster for sure) and a bit of school work. We headed up for Makin and Charlie to hit some range balls and then after that headed over to meet the Denmans for some outdoor COVID-friendly time.

Kidzania

The kids were invited to a birthday party at Kidzania and had an absolute blast.

Lake

We snuck in a quick lake trip, which I always love in the fall when it isn't so hot.

Great Wolf Lodge

Another amazing birthday celebration with the Scotts at GWL. They had so much fun going on endless rides with friends. One of their favorites was getting to do the Tornado slide in the dark...apparently, it was pitch black which ads a whole new level of fun!

Park After School

Because we have normally started DI Thursdays we usually miss this group of kids at the park. We are getting a later start this year, so wanted to seize the chance to have some outdoor time with friends. Lorelei did her usual "talking" with Natalie and Makin played a game of flag football.

Brad and Lorelei Date

We have been totally slacking on our dates. The kids voiced missing their dad-time and Brad made sure to fit in some one-on-one. He took Lorelei to lunch and then up to a tack shop.
