March Moments - Nana's Visit and Cathy's Critters

Nana's Visit
We enjoyed a visit from Nana during her spring break.

Nana played piano for us one evening.
Lorelei played quite a bit during her visit as well, so that was fun to see.

Mother/Daughter lunch date while the kiddos were at school.
We headed to the lake after school.

We enjoyed a visit to Texas Discovery Gardens, which I usually call The Butterfly House.
Love this place.
The butterflies were so active I didn't get a good picture, but this orchid praying mantis was pretty fun to see.

I don't remember what kind of butterfly it is but it is huge!

Always love those book moments.

Cathy's Critters Field Trip
We enjoyed another spring field trip to Cathy's Critters. The kids are hoping we go every year. This year I stayed with Lorelei's group so way more pictures of her day. :) Thankfully friends were with Makin's group and sent me a few pictures.

Spring Break

Spring Break wasn't exactly our ideal break week. It was cold and rainy most of the week and I had to focus a lot on yearbook as there is a lot to get done by the end of May...so it felt like I worked on that half the time and tried to squeeze in some friend time for the kids as best we could.

The weather did warm up enough one afternoon and we took the chance to get out on the trail near our neighborhood.

Checking out deer tracks.

Saw tons of turtles sunbathing.

We had Glow Night!

We toughed out the cold one morning and Makin enjoyed the playground with a few classmates. They ended up playing a little football as well.

We celebrated National Pi day with the Scotts and got pizza for $3.14.

Friday we headed up to Oklahoma to see Heather and her new house as she invited the kids to run in the St. Pats 5K with her and Ronnie

We kept the weekend low-key because of weather as well as spring break crowds but we did sneak in a trip for ice cream.

We had some downtime with books and games at Heather's new house.

Playing Apples To Apples turned out to be one of Makin's favorite parts of our visit.

Sunday turned out to have gorgeous weather so we decided to fit in a few hours at the zoo.

Had to get her first camel ride in.

You can't see them at all but we got to see mountain lion cubs that were rescued from South Dakota where their mother was found killed. They were adorable and what an experience to see cubs!

Smart, funny and possibly a bit mean...Makin intentionally saved his banana so he could eat it at the monkeys.
His plan worked and these two were totally eyeing his snack.

Thanks for the fun visit Heather!

We couldn't miss our St. Patrick's Day tradition of making our own Shamrock Shakes when we got home. So yum.
