Tummy Time and Floor Time

See! I'm working on it! :) Makin actually does very well with tummy time. He does especially well when its on his changing table and we can talk to him easily on his level. Of course the smiling ones always have his head chopped off because I have to let him see me! Anyway this is what our "down time" looks like lately. :)

Of course Lorelei is in on the action to make him smile. :) Boy we are blessed aren't we? :)

Decorating For Christmas

Well, this was not really my favorite year decorating, but its done.

I was behind, which drove me nuts since I am usually done the day after Thanksgiving, but it had to wait till the weekend after this time. Then it became a two-day process since it was combined with an early morning Walmart and shopping run and many more chores. We got everything but the tree up during the day, then assembled the tree after the kids were in bed, then got the lights on during nap Sunday, then waited for Lorelei to wake up to put on ornaments (big mistake!). Then we were done. ;) Next year I think I'll do most of it after sending them away and then just save a few ornaments for her to help with. :)

Honestly though, we are very excited about Christmas this year. To hear Lorelei's reactions to each and every decoration just makes it so much more exciting and special. We get to hear "(gasp!) Oh wow!" about almost everything. She was very, very excited about our tree and I'm glad that we made sure to squeeze it in the apt this year, even if it has to be in the playroom. :)

Makin likes the lights and the singing snowman...so he is pretty happy about it as well. :)

Makin Sunday afternoon, still dressed cute from church.

Had to break out the Christmas outfits. Gonna have to get something to prop up for future pictures. :)

Lorelei enjoying her tree in her room and checking out her handprint from last year. She has a grand total of 3 ornaments on her tree. She wanted them all on the big tree. She also has pink lights. :) My plan is for each child to have their own tree in their room and decorate how they want. Maybe we'll have time to make some garland later. She loves falling asleep with the lights on. (Don't worry, we unplug them when we go to bed.)

"New hiding place!" Great.

I love, love having our decorations up and am so glad we get to enjoy them. Can't wait for all the fun things we are looking forward to this month!

Huskers Vs. Sooners

Being an Oklahoman married to a Nebraskan, we have a bit of a rivalry when it comes to the OU/NE game. Lorelei isn't quite sure who she will root for yet... ;)

Picture Time!

My smiley girl is back, and happy to pose with her baby brother. :) Soooo happy.

Carseat + Dryer = Naptime Bliss

Yep, he is one of those babies. The ones I could never believe hearing about when people would tell me their kids would sleep better in the car. Lorelei HATED the car. Makin is pretty much the most comfortable in his carseat if he can't be held by mommy. :) SO after getting frustrated at his 30 minute catnaps all day and then having to rock him from about 5-8 without being able to put him down but him needing to sleep, I decided to try this because when we were out in the car, he slept much better. Eileen, a lady from my home congregation, always swore by putting kids on the dryer since it worked for her two boys...well major thanks for her suggestion! Now I can enjoy double naptime if it is planned right and Makin will sleep for 3 hours here. Happiness!

We Leave The House Ready For Anything...

...including a construction job along the way? :) This is how we left the house. Important construction hat on along with purse. She wanted them off when we got in the car so they were forgotten when we went into the store. :)

Hmmm Not Rolling Yet

Try as I might...I cannot help but compare Makin to Lorelei. I hope that its a typical mom thing. I seemed to think I'd have it figured out for the second child and that they would be very similar...already have been proven wrong in so many ways! Lorelei was rolling over a few days after Thanksgiving...Makin does not seem even close yet. To give him some credit, he has gotten very little floor time. Partially because I just haven't made it a priority and partially because when we are home to get some, I'm a bit worried to leave the room with him on the floor with Big Sister playing nearby. :) I'm working on making sure to give him some extra time during nap as much as possible and he really loves it. I'm not in that much of a rush and just trying to cherish this baby stage as long as I can, as I know it will go all too fast. Besides...this could mean he is way more laid back right? ;)
