We Love Our Aunt Heather!

July 4th - The First Half

Yep, we had fun ALL day, so this is the morning half. :)

Getting the air out of the bed was a favorite activity.

We talked Anthony into coming over for pancakes the next morning. Lorelei has warmed up to him completely and loved wrestling with him.

Our beautiful star-shaped pancakes (compliments of Heather) with festive toppings. Delish!

So glad to live only 3 hours from my sister!

July 3rd

Sunday we enjoyed going to church, then lunch and a trip to Ikea, then home for nap and then got ready to enjoy some visitors. Heather has a friend, Jess, that just moved to the Dallas area who she had not seen in 4ish years, so they enjoyed a chance to get together while she was visiting. We invited Brad's friend, Anthony as well. First we headed out to the pool and then back home for grilling and all the other eats we had ready. Lorelei stayed up waaaay too late playing with Jess' daughter, Angie, but they had lots of fun and we loved visiting with everyone!

Early morning wrestling with Aunt Heather.

Fun swimming.

Smoke alarm going off, girls enjoying some glow bracelets, beautiful yummy dessert!

House Update - The Inside Scoop!

And of course Heather and I had to swing over to take a look at the house. Nobody was working so it was a great chance to see how the inside was coming along...which I would say is going very quickly as well!

Clockwise from left, playroom, entry, kitchen (Heather is standing in the island) and then our tiles. They are mostly done tiling, still working on the master bath.

Clockwise from left, living room, our master shower, patio, guest room (which may end up changing to Makin's room, not sure we will fit a queen bed in there with room for anything else!)

Guest Bath. ;)

Very excited how quickly it is coming. Our date for the closing is now July 29th, so hopefully it all stays on schedule and we will be moved in a few weeks!

Almost Time...

For Aunt Heather to get here! We were waiting around a bit for Heather in the morning and stayed busy cutting watermelon (which Lorelei eats as fast as you cut it) and then took a little family trip to Starbucks.

Then Heather and I spent the rest of the day shopping with a little success, but it was still fun...and exhausting. Now if she could only be my shopping partner full time until the house is done... ;)

The Stars and Stripes Spirit

Well, I cannot find my box of July 4th decorations...in somebody's closet somewhere but not worth digging out more than I have already attempted. SO its a minimally decorated holiday this time around, but we did get a wind sock from my mom that Lorelei loves, and we have done a few things the last few days, including the fireworks papers (much better when they are older so will save that again in a few years) and then a star chain, which was fun working on patterns with Lorelei while making it as well as "threading" into the holes. Guess I will have a break for a while with projects as the pumpkins are already invading the aisles at Hobby Lobby. :) Looking forward to a fun long weekend with Heather visiting, lots of shopping and time away from the kids (kids, I love you but Mommy needs a break), and of course a fun celebration with brats, friends and fireworks. We'll see how Mr. Makin reacts! Where do you take a screaming baby during fireworks anyway? :) Also trying not to be sad thinking of our past usual Mt. Trashmore party and missing our VA friends!

Decision Made

We have been mulling it over for about a month now and last weekend we finally made our decision. Makin's surgery in July is cancelled and we will be flying to Virginia for his surgery instead of using the surgeon here. Right now they are saying it will probably be Oct. because the summer is packed with school kids, but we have no set date yet. We should find out in the next few weeks. It boiled down to just trusting our parental instincts for what is best for Makin in the long run. It is not the practical choice, but it is the choice of our hearts and guts, so we are going to try and trust that. Hopefully we are making the right choice. One of the hardest choices we have made as parents and thanks for all of your support. :) Will let you know the date as soon as we know.

P.S. Forgot to mention that he weighed in at 23.8 lbs at his 9 month appointment. :) In the 90% for both height and weight. And he continues to clear out our pantry way to quickly. :)
