Christmas Highlights Week 1

PJs and Books

Most would think me a bit crazy if they knew how much time I debate over Christmas pajamas. It's gotten so much harder as the kids have gotten older...I sure miss the footsies at Carters! After much debate, I was excited about this year's choice of Mrs. Weasley-Inspired pjs. These two kiddos sure love Harry Potter, and Mrs. Weasley knits Harry a letter sweater his first Christmas at Hogwarts, treating him like one of the family, as she knits one for each of her children. I also love that Ron is somewhat embarrassed that she made Harry a sweater, but I imagine Harry felt pretty honored and grateful, as it was his first Christmas gift ever. All that being said, this year the kid's pjs were their letter, but in sweatshirt form vs. sweater. (Thank you Etsy...) After reading the section of the book Heather sent me, I discovered Mrs. Weasley also sent fudge with the sweater, so we had to throw that element in too. It was probably their favorite Christmas PJ night ever! :)

Drive-Through Christmas Lights

There are few changes that I can say were more fun this year because of Covid, but this would be one of them! The new trend around here was drive-through Christmas lights! Though they had several of these we enjoyed when we lived in Virginia, they typically do not have them here. We had one right here near home, and it was such a fun time driving through them! I would love it if they would continue this tradition in the future! We planned it after an OM night, so after our meeting, we asked the Scott's if they wanted to join, and they did! Even more fun with friends!

Supper at Hat Creek first!

There were many different themed sections of the drive! A glimpse at just a few of the themes...

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse...see the zzz's coming from the mouse?

12 Days of Christmas, 3 "French" hens.

Beach theme!

Which included Santa in a hammock and Santa doing the limbo!

Our carful.

The favorite! The light tunnel!

Hard to see here, but all of these lights also "moved."
In this one Santa jumps and lands on this ramp.

Santa's village stop off on the way home.
Adorable little tree farm!

Gingerbread House

This year I found what I considered more of a "classic" look for our gingerbread house and it turned out really cute. I didn't understand the German name of it, and we eventually discovered it is actually supposed to be from the story of Hansel and Gretel! Although I'm not a huge fan of that story, it was still a cute house!

Christmas Lights

One other activity we did more often this year was drive around to look at Christmas lights. Around here you could do this every night because of how many neighborhoods are so fun to check out! This night was very close to home, and we drove past a house that is on some sort of show and was Christmas Vacation-level lights. It was so crowded we just drove past and then checked out the rest of the neighborhood.

A yard full of inflatables is not that uncommon around here!
