Celebrating 16.42 Years!

The pineapple fountain...which was not working. ;)
Brad and I postponed our 15-year anniversary trip due to Covid. Since we haven't taken a trip like this since having kids, it was pretty exciting to get to plan something for just the two of us!

We decided to plan something in the fall since we had done so much traveling already over the summer. Does anyone want to guess how we picked our travel dates? Yep, it was the weekend the Huskers did not play! Now that is a true Husker fan. ;) (We had absolutely gorgeous weather, so it totally worked out in our favor!) Nana was a champ and came here to watch the kiddos over our 4 day weekend. They enjoyed their Nana time, but Makin was still not a big fan of us being gone. ;)

We had South Carolina on our travel bucket list because Brad has always wanted to golf there. As I was doing some research on places to visit in the fall it came up, so we decided this would be a great time to make the trip! It was absolutely beautiful and such a great fit for the two of us. We fit in history, golf, and the beach...perfect!

Unfortunately, Brad did end up being sick for most of our four days, which was a big disappointment. You can't tell for most of the photos, but that was our reality. Thankful for the time we did have and it was still one of the highlights of our year!

We were sad not to walk in the pineapple fountain, but this was nearby so it was the best we could do!

Waterfront Swings

My two loves from Publix. Now a must-have when we can!

Gorgeous double rainbow as we checked in.

Lego Sea Turtle!

Our resort - boardwalk on the way to the beach.

I got my wish of seeing the sunset on the beach every night we were there.

We loved Wild Dunes golf course!

Pretty much shows how miserable he was feeling.
Golfed a few holes, took a few holes off and
then toughed it out the last three holes along the ocean.

The Huskers didn't play this weekend...
but Potter made it to the playoffs so still had some football to watch.

We loved that there were several restaurants right on-site with our hotel.
We didn't end up getting to any fun southern-eats type places (mostly bc Brad wasn't feeling well) but we were thankful we could easily grab lunch before heading out.

Boone Plantation - known for its Avenue of The Oaks, which was gorgeous.

Yay! Finally feeling better!
Another on-site and of course, Brad favorite - pizza!
(Very southern. ;) )

Sunrise at the beach!
 Found my first-ever sand dollar!

Gotta love Brad's humorous-creative twist on this one. ;)

We headed back to Charleston and did a walking tour.
Absolutely beautiful city with so much history. Loved it.

They had to dump coal down these back in the old days.

I loved how much they incorporated plants throughout.

So thankful for this beautiful visit!
