Texas History Field Trip and Black and White Ball

History Field Trip

The Texas history class had the opportunity to take a field trip to Austin over a weekend. First, we had lunch at Georgetown Square and found a historic church across the street from our lunch stop, where we then had the opportunity to learn about the church and ring the bell.

Then we headed to Inner Space Cavern. Such amazing sights!

Bacon!

Sumo wrestler eating an ice cream cone!

They sifted through dirt and found some fun stones.

This was a zipline I was amazed she chose to go on!

We had a bit of downtown before heading back out to a private dinner of fajitas on the patio for supper and then had an ice cream treat.

Nayeli leading some stretches during down time.

Saturday morning we visited to the Botanical Gardens before heading to the capital. We had lunch on the lawn before our tour. Then we headed to Bullock Museum and saw items from all the Texas history they have been learning this year!

A historic window from a home from the 1800s at the garden.

Couldn't resist the Lego State Capital!

Seeing a boat they had read all about in class.

Mission doors, possibly from the Alamo.

We rounded out the evening with pizza, s'mores and some games.

We are always up for a new adventure like this and we also really enjoyed getting to know some of the families better on this trip.

Black and White Ball

We had an action-packed weekend! We headed home first thing Sunday morning to get back in time to get Lorelei spiffed up for the Black and White Ball, which is the grand finale for her cotillion class. I headed out for a couple of hours for Makin's flag football and Lorelei and Savannah were able to hang out together at home while their brothers played football. Then I zoomed home and we quickly got a few pictures before the dads left with the daughters. The ball was a couple of hours, but the dads only joined in for the last 30 minutes. Brad's favorite was when they had a chance to do some swing dancing. Lorelei's favorites were the chocolate cake, the dance competitions (over dances they had learned throughout the season), and dancing with her dad.
