Feels Like Summer: Canton Trade Days, Adventure Saturday, Uncle A.J. Visit, Brad Turns 40, Riverdance, RC Cars, Peaches, Read Alouds

We were having a conversation about how many homeschooling moms we know school year-round without a long summer break. While we totally see why they choose to do that, we were discussing how we didn't think that was right for our family. Now as I'm planning our days all I can hear is Lorelei's quote from that day: You know Mom, I don't think most people take summer as seriously as we do. :) Yep! We sure take our summer seriously! So here begins our 2023 Summer Fun!

Canton Trade Days

I was elated when Amanda said she would love to go check out Canton Trade Days. We enjoyed a day of shopping!

Adventure Saturday

As I was coming up with some ways to enjoy checking out various local areas, it somehow turned into planning some Saturday family fun that I've decided to call Adventure Saturdays. I'm not sure how often we will have them, but at least a couple this summer. It made my heart happy that my family had such a great day together with just some small simple things.

A used bookshop is always a win!

We found the purple door!
(Thanks to Google...)

Proof it can pay off to go to those crazy-looking sales!

The Chairy Orchard

Some of our fun finds from a couple of farmer's markets!
According to Brad the best pickles ever!

Uncle A.J. Visit

We were excited to have A.J. here for a visit! Makin loved having some Wii time and learning some new tips and tricks. It was getting a bit warm but we enjoyed smores ice cream (no real marshmallows until we have a mouth clear of a retainer!) around the firepit. We enjoyed lunch out at Babe's after church, some game time, as well as pizza and movie night! Thanks for visiting A.J.!

Movie Night!

Brad Turns 40

Brad took the day off and enjoyed some favorite foods and a chance to see some movies in the theater. We dropped him off to see two movies while we kept the usual Tuesday trip to ManeGait. Then we headed out to eat before attempting some putt putt at the new PGA but it was crazy crowded and not a typical putt putt experience, so we headed back home to have cake and fit in an episode of Last Man Standing before the kiddos went to bed.

Riverdance

This one has been on our wishlist and we were so glad to finally get to see Riverdance! Brad and I had tickets the year covid hit and this was the first year they were touring back in Texas. Such an AMAZING show!

RC Cars

Makin's newest hobby is RC cars. He saved up and purchased one that is probably way too powerful for a 12-year-old boy...but alas it is his. We take it on various trips out to the field and trail near our neighborhood.

Peaches

Our neighbor has a peach tree...they share their bounty and we even had a handful we got to pick from our yard. YUM.

Read Alouds

You know how much we always love a good read-aloud! We saved this one specifically for summer so it was the first request from the kiddos! It did not disappoint!
