Crafts, Dates, and A Night Out

We had a longer-than-I-would-like-but-would-rather-not-have-at-all cold front come in. So what do you do when its officially spring and too cold to go outside? Spring crafts! :) We talked about symmetry and made some fun butterflies by painting one side and then folding the other side on top of it so that they matched/were symmetrical. They loved adding paint, folding it, checking how it looked, then adding some more. :) They also colored spring pages, and made some pretty art work to mail out.

I'm not sure I'll always post our on- on-one dates if we are doing each month as we plan, but these seemed especially fun. We plan to do the 2nd and 8th of the month, but April became the exception. I was deliberating taking Lorelei to the new Cinderella movie but it didn't seem fair to Makin. Thankfully the theater here kept it for several weeks, so we made plans to go April 1st. That is, after Makin agreed that bowling for his date would equal a movie for Lorelei's. :) So the dates for April were bowling and a movie!

I had a blast bowling with my favorite little man. We had the place to ourselves (why don't people bowl at 10 AM on a Friday anyway!?) and he lasted two games since it was just the two of us. He is really a decent bowler considering his size! He was very concerned about which of us was winning and also loved knowing the speed of each ball, which showed up on the screen each time.

We met up with Michelle Purcell for the movie Cinderella for Lorelei's date.

She got her kid's box treat to enjoy during the movie. We really enjoyed it and commented before the movie, "This is such a fun date." :)

Brad and I actually got a sitter to watch the kids and got to go out with friends on a Friday night! Dan turned the big 5-0 over the weekend and Michelle organized a small get together with several couples, eating out (in a private room, with margaritas to boot!) and then heading to their place for games. We had to duck out way too early but had a fun time untill 10! It's amazing how you can actually feel like a real person again from one night out!
