Lorelei At 7 1/2

(Yep. She is getting that way-too-old look.)

At 7 1/2 you...

Get the giggles at bedtime many evenings.

Want to jump on the trampoline at every recess break and basically any chance you get.

Don't want to go anywhere (even your room or the bathroom) without someone with you. This phase is lasting FOREVER this time around.

Love Magic Tree House books. You are excited to listen to them during quiet time on CD and we are on our second round of reading the one you purchased with your birthday money.

Have to work hard on your school work, and really wish it was easy and comfortable rather than hard work. :) It is a lesson in learning that you have to be ok not knowing how to do something the first time and practice, practice, practice. (This is a good lesson for Mom too!) We are also working hard on self control (which with you means not yelling or melting down) and this is a daily challenge.

Really enjoy your gymnastics class and cannot wait to go each week.

Are proud you can touch your tongue to your nose. :)

Say, "Love it." very matter-of-factly when you try a new food, outfit, etc that you are happy with.

Still love all things artsy and with animals. Variations of either of these is usually a top choice for play.

Adore long dresses.

Listen to Jewel every night. (Yes we have other night-time CD options.) I think you know all the words to every song and sing along sometimes as you fall asleep.

Quotable Moments:

"City drivers."

Me: I think it's called a farm sink. I'm not sure why.
Lor: Maybe cause, like, a baby cow could fit in it.

Me: (adjusting hair bow) Something is not quite right...
Lor: Maybe it needs some sparkles.

L: What does organic mean?
Me: It means they don't spray it for bugs.
L: Ew! Don't get that! It has bugs in it!

Me: It's taking you a long time to sort all those Magna Tiles by color and Makin and I are cleaning up everything else...
Lor: Its therapeutic...

Me: (Giving Makin a spelling test per his request.) Can you help me think of a sentence using the word "but"?
Lor: I head-butt my sister.

"Note to self! Never bring cornbread on an airplane!"
