I took a year off of birthday parties, so instead of a party, the kiddos got to choose a fun activity to celebrate. Lorelei chose a horseback ride and invited Aunt Heather and Makin to join her. They did this the Satuday before Lor's actual birthday. She had been requesting this for weeks and I was nervous about the heat, but we managed to get some doable temps for a Texas summer!

For her actual birthday she chose french toast for breakfast and then to go out to Hula Hut for lunch "because I like their tacos" and of course lets not forget their chips and salsa and queso!
Most of the rest of the day she spent reading her newest books (as well as a computer visit to seewinter.com too) while I worked on her cake and then favorite meal.
She requested a horse cake this year, and this was one of the more simple options I could handle...not 100% simple but more doable than some of the other ideas she found on pinterest!
