Surgery #4

We are headed to Virginia for Makin's fourth surgery. (Wednesday, Nov 11th is the surgery date.) Please keep us in your prayers. I remember another cleft lip parent telling me when I was pregnant with Makin, that even though you think its hard to send an infant in for surgery, its actually harder the older they get. I would tend to agree with him. We have been anticipating this since about March, and November seemed so far away, but here we are.

Makin's surgeon will make his 3rd attempt to get that hole in the palate closed up! He is also likely going to try to get the nasal airway more open, which is probably affecting Makin's speech. Right now he cannot say his "rs". Makin is very nervous, so please pray for peace for all of us. The whole family is going, and we are hoping his big sister will be a big blessing and distraction for him during this trip. We have some pre-surgery fun planned that we are looking forward to, so at least that helps us not dread the trip quite as much. Then we are all on the soft-foods diet with Makin for three weeks, so we will need lots of prayers for those weeks following, as I'm sure the grumpiness will hit at some point! Thanks for thinking of us!
