Lorelei Turns Eight

I feel like it has been at least three years of telling Lorelei, "When you turn eight..." And now I cannot believe it is here!

It is one of those milestone birthdays in our family. It's what I got to do for my eighth birthday...it goes right up there with those long-awaited birthdays...when you get to wear make up...get your driver's licence...well, when you turn eight, you can get your ears pierced! (I should probably put a side note here, that we do not encourage Makin to get his ears pierced when he turns eight... ;) )

But before we get to that...here is the start of her special day...

(Day before) For school treats this year we opted for Krispe Kreme. I came up with the idea for Makin, and then Lorelei wanted to have donuts too. When I asked for "something girly" the lady's suggestion was ladybugs. :)

The morning of her birthday she requested breakfast in bed with cinnamon rolls...but wanted to open presents before we at them. :)

We saved the packages she got in the mail to open on her day.
She decided the best place to keep them was right next to her bed so she could open them right away.
Decorations...she ate here for supper at least! :)

Lorelei was super excited her birthday was on a Friday. This meant she could get her ears pierced on the actual special day. We made a trip to Sweet and Sassy. They do both ears at the same time, which sounded like a great plan to me.

She did great. She did ask how long they would hurt right after, but a few minutes later seemed back to her normal self. :)

For the afternoon she enjoyed pickles, cupcakes, and swimming.

The story behind the pickles...this girl loves pickles. I personally think they smell gross and never understood why people ate giant ones at football games...and now my daughter loves them. Brad does too, so between the two of them we don't even keep pickles in the house! So,, this became one of her birthday presents...a huge jar of huge pickles. :) And yes she was kind enough to share one with her dad. :)

Spaghetti was still her birthday supper of choice. :)

Can't believe its been eight years!

  1. Looks like a wonderful eighth birthday! I didn't know she was a huge pickle fan. Sydney is too! I share your feelings about pickles, so think it's funny our girls love them. Such a grown up girl getting her ears pierced! Happy birthday Lorelei!
