Sunset Lake

We were soooo looking forward to our visit to Sunset Lake park in Guymon. They have a lake AND a TRAIN. All I heard from Makin was, "Nain! Nain!" before we went.

We started out feeding the ducks and geese. And boy were they hungry. 30+ of them appeared out of no where! When we moved to the shade we had to walk down a way from where we started feeding them. Of course, they were following us. Lorelei ran away from them down the sidewalk and yelled, "Mommy! They think I'm food!!!!" :) They both got a huge kick out of feeding them. The second Makin would run out of bread he would yell frantically, "Mo! Mo!" with a huge smile of excitement on his face.

Then we played a bit and enjoyed a picnic lunch. Then we waited for the train. And waited, and waited. ;)

To explain the feet pic...I had to show off the super-cute flip flops mom got me, plus all three of us girls had our toes red with sparkles to be festive. It was picture-worthy. ;)

They realized they did not have enough gas to run the train for the night, so ran a bit late when they had to make several trips to get enough. We just love the Lion's Club, though, and they are amazing to keep this little gem going. And finally, OUR RIDE!!!

The kids looooooved it. Makin was a bit nervous, but also in awe. And our conductor was such a sweet heart. He even made sure to slow down for Heather to take pics. We did splurge and give the kids two rides. ($2 per person and Makin was free...I could have done a few more!) It was such a fun time!

Ride #1

Ride #2
(Heather stayed at the "station" to take pics and video)
(Lorelei is covering her ears for the tunnel. He told us to scream as loud as we could, and he also blew the horn. Amazing the loudest screamer didn't even scream for it. ;) )

On the train ride Lorelei spotted the "really cool" jungle gym, so we made one more quick stop to play on it before heading home for the night.

  1. Fun! Lor always makes me laugh with her comments! And I love that the cool jungle gym is an old school jungle gym. :-)
