Lorelei Turns Four

I cannot believe our girl is already four! She has been practicing the last few weeks (she had been telling everyone she was going to be five or six) to hold up four fingers and then count them, to get the age right. :)

We had a big surprise for our animal lover for her birthday. She knew what it was going to be (although sometimes forgot) as we did all go into the pet store together about a month ago to check out our options. As you can see, her birthday surprise was a guinea pig! :) Will do another post on that to come, but she is absolutely loving having a pet.

Her quotes for when she first got to hold him...
"I'm gonna give him lots of love and lots of food." and "I really love that guinea pig."

After the gp excitement and gifts, we had to continue our Micky Mouse pancake tradition. And you cannot light candles and sing enough for their birthdays, so we decided to do it for her pancake. :)

Then, per her request for her birthday, we headed to the lake. We made sure to get there as early as possible to beat the heat as it was supposed to reach at least 100. It was actually quite nice out and not very crowded since we were there so early. We all had such a great time. They started out with lots of swimming. And on a Makin note, he walked all the way out into the water up to his neck! He was usually completely content to play in the shallow and in the sand, but was way more into swimming in the water this time. Brad loved getting a chance to see that! After swimming a while, they dug and built towers in the sand. Makin loved collecting the rocks in the shallow water.

And cannot forget to mention our special birthday calls our kiddos receive since they live far away from their grandparents. :) They love their special calls. Thanks to all the grandparents! :)

After the lake, we headed to Kroger for Lorelei to get a chance to pick out any cupcake she wanted. Do you really think I want to bake four cakes in the next three weeks?! And more importantly, do you think we should be EATING all that cake? :) This may be our usual tradition! :)

Right now she is taking after Daddy and Grandma and chose a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup cupcake.

After nap we enjoyed a smoothie snack, more play and guinea pig time and her favorite supper of spaghetti. Then came the cupcakes, of course, complete with the birthday candles (which she counted and put on herself) and song. And boy did they have fun digging into their cupcakes. :)

Happy Birthday Lorelei!!!
