Why A Guinea Pig?

Well you all know Lorelei basically came out of the womb wanting a dog. Her farm girl mom cannot do an indoor dog just yet. Both grandma's are allergic to cats, and I am slightly as well, so the guinea pig seemed like the best pet for us.

They are actually smart and cuddly. It will also get much bigger so are not as squish-able as a hamster. Brad even saw some videos online of people's guinea pigs doing tricks. :) We will see if he has time to teach our little guy. But you never know!

A few fun facts:

  • Guinea pigs are social creatures who need daily quality time and interaction with their human family.

  • Guinea pigs love being petted and will fall asleep in your lap if they trust you.

  • Guinea pigs can develop social relationships with people or other species of animals.

  • A happy guinea pig may jump straight up and down; this is called "popcorning" in juvenile guinea pigs.

The bottom right picture was such a sweet moment. Lorelei colored a couple of pictures and said "I want to give it to my guinea pig." She then promptly grabbed some magnets and hung it on his cage. "Its metal." As if every four year old would think of that? ;)

And still no name. :) Will keep you posted. ;)
